Observe incoming rate, stored duration, and playback consumption separately.

Do not infer a single cause from the spinner alone.

Implied procedure

Record whether recovery resumes at the same quality, a lower quality, or from a new segment boundary.

Distinguish a deliberate reserve from delay caused before delivery begins.

Interpretive residue

The guide relocates attention from the symbol at the centre of the screen to a contest between three clocks.

Playback succeeds when arrival can remain ahead of consumption, not when either is perfectly smooth.
